Domain Names Have Come a Long Way.

In the early days of the Internet when good domain names were plentiful and largely unregistered, registrars were more like land-title office clerks. The handful of existing domain registrars had the luxury of charging arbitrary annual fees, but dutifully administered names for their clients. After the .com crash and Internet ad-bust of 2001/2002, domain names were discovered to be some of the few online "assets" remaining. As word of their value began to spread into the mainstream, many new domain registrars were created to capture names the moment they expired. The legacy registrars which had most of the old "good" names under management, began to quietly modify their terms of service, allowing them to keep and re-sell forgotten client domain names after their implied expiration date. As the pool of valuable, expiring names began to dry-up, many of the newly formed registrars had to find other ways to generate revenue. Some of those registrars began to engage in business practices which were unsound or counter-competitive to their clients interest; in some cases stealing client domain names and even holding them hostage.

Living by Our Founder's Credo.

Our founders were some of the first commercial registrants of valuable domain names and they saw many of these unwholesome changes coming. They decided if no "bank" is safe from the potential misdeeds of its staff, then best to create a new bank. iRegistry was born to safeguard the intellectual property assets of several corporations and today we continue to strive to high ideals of client fiduciary trust and responsibility. We do not sell our client's expiring domain names. We do not take client-entitled advertising revenue, or keep our client's domain names after their expiration. We do not try to up-sell unnecessary and overpriced services to our clients in an effort to maximize revenue ahead of client needs. We do not act as a clog on our client's ability to manage their names or attempt to thwart the management of those names, as some less scrupulous registrars have done. Our sole mission is to safely administer the domain registrations our clients hold; and to respect our client's wishes by carefully managing those assets for future generations.
